Scope and Applicability.

This instruction applies to all U.S. Navy commands and facilities that capture or transmit VI.

Purpose.

To establish policies and assign responsibilities for the Navy Visual Information (VI) Program per references (a) and (b). The Navy must maintain the ability to capture and transmit VI to ensure timely and accurate information is provided to internal and external audiences. VI aids commanders' decision making by enhancing situational awareness and helping them achieve strategic and operational objectives, including objectives to analyze intelligence, counter propaganda and, per reference (c), disseminate public information. This instruction is a complete revision and should be reviewed in its entirety.
