This instruction applies to all persons engaged in the maintenance of GSM-R Radio Base Transceiver Stations (BTS), Compact Direct Ambient Cooling System (CDACS), Base Station Controllers (BSC), Transcoder Units (TCU), Packet Controller Units (PCU) and Repeater equipment. This instruction defines the maintenance requirements for GSM-R radio equipment in use on Network Rail infrastructure.

While this instruction includes the maintenance of Kontron NSS and Frequent is equipment, it does not apply to the maintenance of masts, antennas, and Dicora terminals.

Purpose 

Regular maintenance of radio systems improves system reliability and helps Network Rail to put passengers and freight first. This document specifies the GSM-R maintenance tasks
