These recommendations cover design qualification testing of new designs of control valves used in BOP control systems. It is not intended that existing designs be subjected to these tests, however manufacturers are encouraged to do so. These recommendations do not include design process, material selection and manufacturing process, but serve to determine the qualification criteria.
