Organization: NR
Publication Date: 4 September 2010
Status: active
Page Count: 8
scope:

This Network Rail standard specifies the process and controls to be applied to the installation and management of Remote Condition Monitoring systems and associated hardware, with specific reference to individual systems where appropriate. It applies to all current and future implementations and these activities.

The manual, NR/L3/MTC/II0219, has sections that cover:

• Implementation and Commissioning of Logger equipment

• Configuration of Logger equipment

• Calibration of required Alarm and Alert levels within the System

• Management of Alarms and Alerts generated by the System

• Maintenance of Assets fitted with Remote Condition Monitoring

This standard applies to all persons who fit hardware or monitor and manage the associated software relating to Remote Condition Monitoring. This standard delivers the complete processes required for all activities related to Remote Condition Monitoring. The intention is that:

• the full process is consistent;

• a recognised process is followed by each End User

Purpose

Historically, a number of Remote Condition Monitoring systems and approaches have been implemented on a local basis resulting in a non-standard approach to equipment, systems and processes.

In December 2009, the Intelligent Infrastructure Remote Condition Monitoring Strategy was signed off. This has been put in place because of a need for a standard approach to Remote Condition Monitoring going forward. In future, all Remote Condition Monitoring implementations will comply with the strategy, and with these associated Standards.
