PURPOSE

The purpose of this test is to determine the ability of connectors, connector interfaces and strain reliefs to withstand tension and twisting forces as might be experienced by lead assemblies during installation and service conditions.

Typical indications of damage resulting from this test may be:

Broken parts or accessories.

Damage to seals.

Breakage, chipping or scratching of the interface.

Change in optical transmission.

Slipping or rotating of the cable in relation to the cable gripping device or strain relief of the connector.
