This test specification comprises of the following sections, which correlate with the competency levels identified in NR/L2/SIG/30014/B410 for this type of equipment or testing

1. Verification

2. Hardware Tests

3. Function Tests

4. Supplementary Tests

General definitions of terms are given in NR/L2/SIG/30014. Terms specific to this specification are defined in the last section of this specification.

This specification contains the testing requirements for current standard designs / installations of Plettac cameras and Coe Transmission and is used to determine that level crossing CCTV systems are fit for operational use.

Where alterations are made to existing installations, which may have alternative arrangements / equipment, some sections of this specification may not apply and a supplementary Test Specification shall be produced in accordance with NR/L2/SIG/30014/ D110 and appended to this specification.

NOTE: The camera tests described in this document are for CCD type cameras. If another type of camera is used then this should be set up and tested as described in the pre-installation tests in the relevant camera handbook. In addition each camera should be "soak" tested for a minimum of 14 days prior to installation.

Whenever an oscilloscope is used for taking measurements it is important that the signal cable is terminated at 75Ω. This may be achieved with a BNC 'T' piece and 75Ω terminator or, where, a monitor is also being used that it is set to terminate the input at 75Ω.
