Introduction
Clamplock is the familiar name for the Rail Clamp Point Lock which was originally designed by British Rail in the late 1960's.
In 1994 the manufacture of the Clamplock Points Machine was licensed out. This Licence was awarded to Smiths Hydraulic Industries Company, which in 2001 was bought by SPX Fluid Power (now SPX Hydraulic Technologies) and later re-branded to SPX Rail Systems. As part of this agreement SPX Rail Systems are the sole supplier of Clamplock.
