PREFACE
This Publication contains those solid state product outlines and other associated drawings that have been registered and assigned a JEDEC designation and are printed on white paper. Product outlines that have been accepted as Standards are also printed on white paper. In addition, the rules and other information required to explain and/or prepare outline and gauge drawings are included in this Publication.
To be registered, an outline must be sponsored by one or more companies and then processed through the JEDEC Jc-11 Committee on Mechanical Standardization. Following the Committee approval, the outline is then submitted to the Type Administrator, who in turn issues a formal release to industry.
To quality as a Standard, additional approval steps are necessary. Usually after an outline has been registered and has gained sufficient industry recognition and usage, the Committee may then propose it for standardization. This is a formal procedure involving various steps of industry acceptance. This includes approval by independent actions of the Electronic Industries Association (EIA) as well as the JEDEC Council, in order to become an EIA/JEDEC Standard.
Note that the under 200-series DO and TO outlines in this Publication were registered prior to the establishment of current outline and format requirements. Comparable MO and 200- series DO and TO family outlines have been subsequently released for most applications though to be active, and are preferred for new registrations. Thus, no under 200-series DO and TO outline registrations should be specified on any new JEDEC device registrations.
Any manufacturer desiring to register a new outline of the type contained in this Publication should submit it to the Chairman of the JC-11 Committee or the responsible Subcommittee Chairman. Contact with any of these persons may be made through the EWJEDEC Office.
To be able to make the best us of this Publication, it is suggested that the reader take the time to become acquainted with its content and organization. Most of the sections have a Table of Contents and an Introductory Statement outlining the function and scope of the material covered in that particular section. A perusal of the Table of Contents and introductory Statement will give the reader a good overview of the scope and purpose of the entire Publication.
