This specification covers semi-cured thermosetting resin treated, unidirectional glass electrical insulating tape intended for banding armatures of rotating electrical machines for shipboard use. Other applications may be banding of wound rotor coils, securing stator coils, surge rings, commutator string bands.

Glass banding tape shall be of the following types, as specified (see 6.2):

Type B - General purpose, 130°C. for continuous operation.

Type H - High temperature, 180°C. for continuous operation.
