MODUK - DTD-1127A

Acceptance Tests for Emergency Parachute Assemblies (06.60)

active, Most Current
Organization: MODUK
Publication Date: 1 January 1960
Status: active
Page Count: 15
scope:

This specification is to be read in conjunction with the specification against which the perachute assembly concerned has been developed, and lays down the test which must be satisfactorily completed before acceptance for Service use fo any new emergency parachute assembly, or any major change to an existing assembly. A major change to a component or assembly is defined in Appendix A to this specification. In the event of there being conflict between the requirements in the specification for the parachute assembly and the requirements of this test specification, the former requirements should be worked to.

This specification does not cover the tests required to prove the acceptability or otherwise of a barometric parachute release device; it does, however, cover the further tests that are required, after the device has completed its general acceptance tests, to confirm its satisfactory operation when used with a particular parachute assembly.

This specification also does not fully cover the testing of parachute equipment peculiar to enjection seats, e.g., seat stabilising parachutes, which will be considered separately, although it will in general apply to the parachute equipment used by the seat leaving the seat. Additional tests will, however, be necessary to prove the satisfactory operation of any equipment intended to saparate the accupant from his seat and operate his parachute automatically. and to ensure that the deployment of the parachute and the safety of the parachutist is not affected by the behaviour of the seat.

The requirements of this specification shall be met to the satisfaction of D.A.Mech.(R.D.A.E.4) to whom any queries on its interpretation should be referred. Responsibility remains with the designer, however, to take any steps which he may consider necessary to prove the design to his own satisfaction, and for complying with the procedurw laid down in the handbook: "Technical Procedure Requirements for Service Aircraft".

Where reference is made in this specification to other specifications, drawings or official publications the current issue shall be deemed applicable unless otherwise stated.
