The provisions of this instruction are non-mandatory for all Navy ships and are to be applied in conjunction with all environmental, safety, and health precautions required by references (a) through (c) and as a supplement to specific guidance in Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs) for any particular HM.
Enclosure (1) provides Navy afloat personnel with general safety and environmental information for hazardous materials (HM) commonly used on ships.
