INTRODUCTION

This Leaflet gives information related to 2.1.28 to 2.1.35 and 2.1.36 to 2.1.42. 2.1.28 to 2.1.35 calls for the setting up of a series of Operational Flight Envelopes for the various phases of the specified operational mission(s). For example, there may be different Operational Envelopes for terrain following, for cruising and for weapon delivery. Encompassing these Operational Flight Envelopes is a Service Flight Envelope for the same Aeroplane Normal State, which is derived from aeroplane structural or aerodynamic limits as distinguished from mission requirements. 2.1.36 to 2.1.42 requires that in the Aeroplane Normal State, the minimum level of flying qualities should be Level 2 within the Service Flight Envelope. The Contractor should aim to provide Level 2 flying qualities for whatever Category of flight phase may be considered appropriate to the particular speed and altitude range being considered. Where it is considered unreasonable to provide Level 2 flying qualities for any of the required Category A flight phases, the requirement for a minimum of Level 2 flying qualities remains valid for Category B or Category C flight phases as appropriate.
