Methods of Testing Soils for Civil Engineering Purposes Part 6.5: Soil Strength Tests - Determination of the Penetration Resistance of a Soil Test 6.5.3: Cone Penetration Resistance Using a Cone or a Friction Cone
| Organization: | SNZ |
| Publication Date: | 1 January 1988 |
| Status: | active |
| Page Count: | 28 |
scope:
This method applies to the determination of the static cone penetration resistance of a soil in the field, using a Cone, and additionalljf the side skin friction and friction ratio.if a Friction Cone is used (see Note (I) The method permits the use of either mechanical or electrical penetrometers.
NOTE - Literature, including overseas Standards, describing the apparatus used in this test uses various terminology for parts of the apparatus. To avoid ambiguity, in this Standard Test Method, the terms "Cone" and "Friction Cone" (with initial capital letters) are used to describe the equipment attached to the foot of the rod assembly. The word "cone" (with lower case "C") refers to the conical point of the equipment.
