This standard establishes a uniform identification code for all wires and cables used by the Departments of the Army, Navy, and Air Force for transmission of telephone, telegraph, and teletype signals. The color codes of this standard also apply to singles, pairs, triples, and quads when used in any other applications, such as, in intercommunication, loudspeaker, and microphone cables.
