Introduction
The MISPEC procedure described in Working Paper 8 allows the calculation of IFF performance for a specified platform pair, the need for extensive trials is thus minimised. Neverless, verification that required performance standards can be achieved may be demanded by certifying authorities, and therefore trials of selected platform pairs remain necessary.
The conduct of RF systems trials presents many problems. Repeatability in results between nominally identical programmes, carried out at defferent times or at different sites, is difficult to achieve. The aim of this document is therefore to define a standard set of procedures, in order that any organisation possessing the necessary facilities can conduct trials to validly access the IFF performance of specified platform pairs, and obtain repeatable, accurate, results.
The platform pair categories considered are:
a) Ground Interrogator - Airborne Transponder
b) Ship Interrogator - Airborne Transponder
c) Ship Interrogator - Ship Transponder
d) Airborne Interrogator - Ship Transponder
e) Airborne Interrogator - Airborne Transponder
Because many of the procedures are similar for more than one platform pair they are not listed separately. Where differences exist they will be detailed appropriately.
