This instruction applies to all NAVAIR activities, programs managed by Program Management (AIR-1.0), and to the Aviation Program Executive Offices (PEOs) supported by NAVAIRHQ.
Purpose.
This instruction establishes policy and procedures, and assigns responsibility for the life cycle management (preparation, approval, revision, cancellation, and archiving) of program unique specifications (a.k.a. NAVAIR Peculiar Specifications and Type Specifications) used for acquisitions by the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR). This instruction applies to program unique specifications only, and does not apply to the preparation of specifications developed under the Defense Standardization Program (DSP), reference (a).
