scope:
This Standard relates to the requirements for thermoplastic mouldings produced by injection moulding and intended for electrical and/or mechanical applications. Section 1 specifies general requirements which apply to all injection mouldings. Subsequent Sections relate to additional requirements for mouldings made from specific types of material.
Type QX mouldings are of a quality suitable forcertain applications where a high degree of compatibility with explosives is- also a requirement. Compatibility with all explosives in all environments, however, has not been established and Design Authorities should, therefore, seek advice on particular applications from the Director, Royal Armament Research and Development Establishment, Waltham Abbey, Essex, EN9 1AX.
Mouldings are designated according to the classification given in the relevant material specification . This Standard is intended for quality control. Design Authorities should satisfy themselves that the quality defined in this Standard, in conjunction with the relevant drawing, will satisfy the design requirements. For aerospace applications attention is drawn to the provisions of British Standard 3G 100.
Note: It is recommended that DEF STAN 93-26, 'Guide to the use of Defence Standards for plastics mouldings be read in conjunction with this Standard.
