This NES states the requirements for the citing, fitting and connection of THORN SECURITY automatic fire detection equipment in all Surface Ships and Submarines.

The fire detection equipment, when installed, is to function as a completely autonomous fire detection system capable of raising audible warning and specific visual indication on automatic or manual initiation of alarms.

Special requirements for the installation of THORN SECURITY equipment are given in the installation documents for that equipment. Where such special requirements differ from the requirements of this NEC, special requirements are to take precedence.
