Purpose: This document sets forth the characteristics of the Global Positioning System (GPS) sensor portion of a GPS system intended for installation in commercial transport aircraft. The intent of this document is to provide general and specific design guidance for the development of GPS sensors for airline use. It will describe the desired operational capability of the GPS system and the standards necessary to ensure interchangeability.
