This Part of the Naval Engineering Standard (NES) specifies the performance, design, installation and acceptance testing of total flooding BTM (Halon 1301) firefighting systems in the machinery compartments as may be defined in the procurement specification for HM Surface Ships of frigate size and larger.
NOTE: The general principles of this NES apply to the machinery compartments of minor surface ships, but detailed requirements will be modified according to the vessels size and function.
