This specification stipulates the complete range of tests for the integration and acceptance of an A E A or an item of A E A for use an aircraft. It is emphasized that these tests are additional to the type test schedules for individual items comprising the A E A Tests specified by the Approving Authority must be completed to its satisfaction before the assembly or item is accepted for Service use. In the event of there being a conflict between he requirements in the Specification for the item(s) making up the A E A and the interpretation of this test specification the Approving Authority shall be the arbiter.

Before the tested for an A E A item are scheduled, the designer shall provide the Approving Authority with a detailed description of the equipment and evidence of the extent to which the item on its components have been tested. The statement shall detail those areas in design where a functional or mechanical failure of a component would seriously impair the performance of the assembly or the system.

The schedule of tests issued by the A E A Approving Authority shall be designed to show that the performance of each A E A item is not adversely affected by any other A E A item or interaction with the aircraft seat or harness assembly. The tests shall show that the AEA does not adversely affect the efficient performance of air craw personnel throughout the complete size range and throughout the full range of their duties and escapes sequences. Particular attention shall be Given to the environmental stresses created by vibration, noise, temperature and acceleration.

When any change is made to an item in an existing assembly the designer shall describes the change to the Approving Authority, who will agree the range of additional and/or repeat tests appropriate before acceptance of the alteration.

The Approving Authority will specify the anthropometric range of men and/or dummies to be used in test.
