MODUK - DEF STAN 93-74

High Strength Silicone Rubber, Type QX

inactive, Most Current
Organization: MODUK
Publication Date: 1 January 1993
Status: inactive
Page Count: 11
scope:

This INTERIM Defence Standard specifies requirements for a silicone elastomer suitable for the production of items such as mouldings, sheets and extrusions where high strength properties are of prime importance.

The designation 'Type QX' indicates that the material is suitable for certain applications where a high degree of compatibility with explosives is a requirement. However, compatibility with all explosives in all environments has not been established, and Design Authorities should seek advice on particular applications from the Head of Energetic Materials and Terminal Effects Department, Defence Research Agency, Fort Halstead, Sevenoaks, Kent, TN14 7BP.
