The practices covered by this standard are intended for use in accomplishing temporary non-standard modifications. They are intended to require important desirable characteristics and to prohibit serious installation design discrepancies. This standard cannot properly account for special problems encountered in the installation of new equipment. Modification activities are encouraged to continually review the requirements of this standard, with the intent of developing proposals when such proposals will yield improved operations while providing adequate margins of safety.
