This leaflet details advice which will help to ensure that noise and vibration is adequately considered during the design and approval of equipment. Such an approach is necessary to demonstrate that equipment operates adequately in the aeroplane noise and vibration environment.

Advice is given under the following headings:

Design and approval philosophy. Aspects are identified which should be addressed during equipment design to ensure noise and vibration are given due consideration. The confiiation of equipment adequacy, either by test or assessment, is also addressed.

Selection of noise and vibration severities. The selection of suitable noise and vibration severities for use in the various stages of equipment design is discussed.

Verification of noise and vibration severities. The verification of the noise and vibration severities, used for equipment design, approval and testing, is addressed.
