scope:
This specification relates to a white, glossy, two-pack polyurethane paint suitable for use as a multicoat system in the accommodation areas and other spaces in HM submarines.
The material is required to be resistant to colour change in continuous artificial light and to staining by tobacco smoke and/or other atmospheric contaminants.
The coating, when in service in enclosed environments, shall not release excessive amounts of organic vapours into the atmosphere. To minimize atmospheric contamination from this source, the surface drying time of the material is relatively long, to ensure that the bulk of the solvent evaporates before the coating is cured.
