This specification covers the general requirements for carbon steel, alloy steel and stainless steel bars, forgings and reforging stock.

Bars, forgings and forging stock shall be furnished in the type, class, grade, condition, alloy or finish specified in the detailed specification (see 3.1 and 6.2.1).

Steel bars, forgings and forging stock are intended for machinery, transportation equipment and marine application.
