scope:
This specification covers kerosine-burning, hand lanterns with globes, and also provides for the procuring of glass globes separately (see 6.2).
The lanterns, with globes shall be of the following types and classes as specified (see 6.2).
Type I - Cold blast, tubular frame. Class A - Large size, with medium globe (style F), 32-ounce minimum capacity, ⅞ inch wick, 45 hours minimum burning time. Class B - Small size, with short globe (style B), 16-ounce minimum capacity, ⅝ inch wick, 30 hours minimum burning time. Type IV - Wire-frame, with short globe (style C or D), ⅜-pint minimum capacity, ⅝-inch wick, 20 hours minimum burning time.
The globes, when purchased separately, shall be of the following styles, as specified (see 6.2).
Style B (see fig. 1). Style C (see fig. 2). Style D (see fig. 3). Style F (see fig. 4).

The lanterns covered by this specification are intended for illumination and signal purpose.
