1.0 SCOPE

w-SX1 Sound Level Standard for Machinery and Equipment is a manufacturing standard aimed at protecting the hearing health of Ford employees by ensuring that when machinery and equipment is purchased and installed it is designed and constructed so as to achieve sound levels as low as reasonably practicable. The standard defines maximum acceptable sound level limits for all machinery and equipment purchased by Ford or fabricated for installation or use (both production and non-production). Procedures for sound level measurements and reporting of data, supplier and purchaser responsibilities, and deviations from the requirements are established in the standard. w-SX1 applies to all Company facilities unless locally applicable requirements are more restrictive.
