This specification sets forth the requirements for a Radar Remote Weather Display System (RRWDS). It will be utilized with various long range radars to provide and transmit processed radar video to remote display sites for the display of weather on a cathode ray tube type display. The unit shall interface with existing radars in a manner which will not reduce the existing radar operational capabilities. The system consists of radar data acquisitions and formatting equipment at the radar site, a modem pair connected to narrowband communication channels to transmit the data to a remote observation site, equipment to receive and store the data at the remote site, a CRT display, and interface for sending the radar data to an external computer, or receiving data from an external computer for display on the CRT. Controls and status information are provided. The primary observation site is the Flight Service Station (FSS).
