scope:

This specification covers the technical content requirements for the preparation of technical manuals in work package concept for the maintenance of aircraft and related systems. The manuals include an integrated illustrated parts breakdown (IPB). The general style and format requirements of technical manuals in work package (WP) format are contained in the general specification (MIL-DTL-81927).

The type of manual is a combination of the technical content (functional elements covered) and the assigned level(s) of maintenance to be covered. The maintenance level(s) covered is identified by using a prefix for the applicable functional element(s), as the first part of the publication title, as prescribed in the general specification. The assigned maintenance level(s) and functional elements to be covered should be as prescribed in the contract. Beneficial comments (recommendations, additions, deletions) and any pertinent data which may be of use in improving this document shall be addressed to Commander, Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Code 414100B120-3, Highway 547, Lakehurst, NJ 08733-5100 by using the Standardization Document Improvement Proposal (DD Form 1426) appearing at the end of this document or by letter.
