scope:

This Standard covers the features of single-phase pad mounted units consisting of transformer and cable entrance compartment which may be separable or integral. For other details, reference shall be made to CSA Standard C2, Single-Phase and Three-Phase Distribution Transformers Types ONAN and LNAN.

The rated kVA capacities at rated voltage shall be 25,37,50,75,100 and 167.

Where reference is made to other publications, such reference shall be considered to refer to the latest edition approved by the organization issuing that publication.

This Standard applies only to single-phase distribution transformer units intended for mounting outdoors on pads without additional protective enclosures.

The equipment covered by this Standard is primarily intended for operation by electric utilities only on effectively grounded underground distribution systems having primary voltages up to and including 16.0/27.6 kV grounded Y with secondary distribution at 120/240 volts, three wire.

When this equipment is intended for operation by other than an electric utility it shall be the purchaser's responsibility to ensure that the unit meets the requirements of the appropriate electrical inspection authority.

This Standard covers equipment up to and including 167 kV A but not equipment involving enclosures for housing a pole type transformer (sec CSA Standard C2) and switch-gear.

This Standard is intended to provide for the replacement of a pad mounted integral unitor a transformer from a separable unit by another of the same type from a different manufacturer without modifications to the cables, pad, or in the case of separable units, to the cable entrance compartments. Details for the interchangeability of the individual sections of separable units are shown on Figures 4 and 5.
