MODUK - DEF STAN 80-182

Paint System for Aromatic Polyamide Fibre and Ammunition Components Type QX

inactive, Most Current
Organization: MODUK
Publication Date: 1 January 1993
Status: inactive
Page Count: 16
scope:

This INTERIM Defence Standard specifies requirements for an air drying paint system used to protect aromatic polyamide fibre from the effects of ultraviolet light and humidity and used as an external finish on certain types of ammunition.

The designation 'Type QX' indicates that the material is suitable for certain applications where a high degree of compatibility with explosives is a requirement. However, compatibility with all explosives in all environments has not been established, and Design Authorities should seek advice on particular applications from the Head of Energetic Materials and Terminal Effects Department, Defence Research Agency, Fort Halstead, Sevenoaks, Kent, TN14 7BP.
