This specification describes the requirements for portable infrared thermal imaging systems (IRTIS) for use on board Naval ships for inspection and survey of electrical equipment.

The IRTIS type designations shall be as follows:

A - self contained, directed viewing (through scanner) (see 3.2.1)

B - modular, remote viewing (separate scanner) (see 3.2.2)

intended Use:

The IRTIS is intended to produce a thermal picture of shipboard equipment and detect thermal anomalies which may be indicative of potential or actual failures.
