Organization: | NPFC |
Publication Date: | 1 April 1974 |
Status: | active |
Page Count: | 59 |
scope:
- The equipment covered by this specification shall provide radio frequency reception and transmission on any of 7000 channels in 25 kilohertz (25 kHz) increments in the 225.000 through 399.975 MHz radio frequency (rf) band. Operationally, the equipment shall provide line-of-sight (LOS) and satellite (SAT) communications capability. More specific and detailed information is found in Section 3, REQUIREMENTS.
- In the line-of-sight (LOS) mode, the equipment shall provide simplex two-way communications with the following modes:
a. Amplitude Modulation (AM) Normal Voice
b. Amplitude Modulation (AM) Secure Voice
c. Frequency Modulation (FM) Link 11, Parallel Tone, Phase-Shift Keyed Data
d. Frequency Modulation (FM) Secure Link 11 Data
e. Frequency Shift Keyed (FSK) Link 4, Serial Digital Data
Additionally, the equipment shall provide the capabilities for:
(1) Monitoring of the ultra high frequency (UHF) AM emergency channel by the incorporation of a separate fixed tuned guard receiver.
(2) Reception of UHF automatic direction finder (ADF) signals, on any selected channel. FSC-5821
(3) Transmission of a signal from a reference signal generator of the Command Active Sonobuoy System (CASS) or Directional Command Active Sonobuoy System (DICASS) on a preselected channel.
- In the satellite (SAT) mode the equipment shall provide half duplex operation. Receive frequencies shall automatically be offset from transmit frequencies. Three selectable and programmable transmit to receive frequency offsets shall be provided. The equipment shall also operate with an external modem via 70 MHz ports.
- Built-in test shall be available. Fault isolation to the functional module level shall be possible.
intended Use:
- See Paragraph 3.4.1.
