This Standard considers breathing systems and their accessories for use in anaesthesia for humans. Components located downstream of the common gas outlet of the anaesthesia machine are discussed.

Breathing systems with integral exhalation devices are excluded from the Scope of this Standard. Lung ventilator and dental analgesia systems are also excluded.

This Standard is written in SI (metric) units. Values indicated in parenthesis are considered to be approximate conversions and are provided for information only.
