The requirements in this standard apply to all types of 60-hertz salient-pole synchronous generators and generator/motors rated 5000 kVA (kilovolt amperes) and above to be used for hydraulic turbine or hydraulic pump/turbine applications.

Definitions, characteristics, and test methods not specifically covered in this standard shall comply with the following documents insofar as they are applicable:
