Code of Practice for the Control of Hygiene in Air and Water Systems in Buildings
| Organization: | SNZ |
| Publication Date: | 1 January 1987 |
| Status: | active |
| Page Count: | 31 |
scope:
This Standard provides guidance to building and building services designers and operating staff responsible for running the services of a building in relation to the control of hygiene in air and water systems in buildings. The Standard has as its primary emphasis large industrial, commercial and residential accommodation buildings that contain large numbers of people and have air conditioning and extensive water systems.
The Standard is primarily concerned with the setting of sound principles of design, installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance which will assist in reducing the likelihood of outbreaks of infectious diseases originating from air and water systems, such as 'humidifier fever' and LegioneIIosis.
It does not cover the functional design, installation, operation and maintenance of air and water systems in buildings except insofar as such systems may provide the opportunity for the harbouring, development and transmission of micro-organisms causing disease, or material which could lead to hypersensitivity pneumonitis (refer A3.5).
