Scope of this Guide

The purpose of this Guide, which should always be read in conjunction with Def Stan 05-58 Part 1, is to explain the concepts and procedures and to assist those responsible for determining sampling inspection requirements to decide when Def Stan 05-58 Part 1 should be used and to choose an appropriate sampling scheme from it. This Guide also provides detailed guidance to those who are required to operate sampling schemes from Def Stan 05-58 Part 1 and gives examples at Annex A. Examples 1 and 2 are set out very fully and cover the procedures which will be usual in everyday use.
