scope:
This specification relates to a special purpose vulcanized natural rubber with low electrical resistivity. The material is primarily intended for the production of moulded parts used in certain ammunition items where the electrical resistance of the charge path via the rubber part is an important consideration in respect of static hazards.
The designation 'Type X' indicates that the material is of a quality suitable for certain applications where a high degree of compatibility with explosives is also a. requirement. The composition of the vuloanizate is therefore restricted and special precautions during processing are specified to ensure compatibility.
Compatibility with all explosives in all environments, however, has not been established and Design , Authorities should, therefore, seek advice from DERDE on particular applications.
