This Standard relates to a range of multi-contact circular, metal shell, plugs and sockets (connectors) with quick coarse thread coupling and crimp front release removable contacts or soldered non-removable contacts suitable for use in marine and other extreme environments. Both types are intermateable. The polarization feature is by positive shell keying accessories are available for use with cables specified herein providing braid termination and positive shielding. To ensure compliance with this specification, connectors shall always have a full complement of contacts fitted, with filter plugs behind unwired contacts.

Qualification approval procedure shall be in accordance with DEF-5001-C, Section 2.

Acceptance sampling, and inspection of parts procedures shall be in accordance with BS 9000 (clause 2.5).
