This Defence Standard defines the minimum common standard for hoses and hose assemblies used for the transfer of gases. It also provides guidance to equipment designers on features of material, construction and performance which need to be positively addressed at the design stage. The storage and packaging requirements are also defined.
This document does not apply to aircrew breathing equipment, fixed or personal, nor to hoses and assemblies directly associated with medical equipment. The equipment for these uses are defined by the relevant authorities.
The hoses used for gas welding are defined by BS 5120 and are thus also outside the scope of this document.
