MODUK - DEF STAN 02-54
Supply of Information to Determine the Ship-Fit of Equipment and the Identification of Parts and Spares
Organization: | MODUK |
Publication Date: | 1 April 2000 |
Status: | inactive |
Page Count: | 100 |
scope:
This NES gives the requirements that are to be imposed on the Shipbuilder or MOD(PE) Orderer or Requisitioner of an SSC sponsored ship-fit platform item, in order that the item:
will be quickly and clearly identified so that:
it can be recognized whether or not it is an item that may require Parts Identification documentation, and associated Spares Allowance documentation in the form of:
Illustrated Parts Catalogue and Provisioning Schedule, as is used in Type A Support, or
SSCF 110A as is used in Type B Support
the total ship-fit of such items can be built up in MOD(PE) records.
will be supported by recommendations for Spares Allowances- if specifically called for by MOD(PE).
and such of its parts that may be required by MOD(PE) to be RNSTS Items of Supply, will be identified and provided with related data elements, including NATO Codification data and drawings as appropriate, in an adequate and timely manner- if specifically called for by MOD(PE). DEFCON 117 - 117A are relevant, see ANNEX E.
The implementation of this NES enables MOD(PE) to demand the supply of further information, as a condition of the Contract, but as a charge to MOD(PE) under a separate order, based on fair and reasonable charges.
Implementation requires the use of a Code Index (given in Annex A) that:
lists Ship System Codes and
provides an Equipment Code Dictionary which lists Equipment Codes and indicates those items which are relevant to Clause 0101a(1).
In general MOD(PE) will require this NES to be implemented only when MOD(PE) recognizes that the item is not supported by existing Type A or Type B Support documentation, including NATO Codification in both cases.
It is emphasised that NATO Codification requires the supply of data related to the actual manufacturer of an item, and includes, his Part Number, Drawing Number and a copy of that drawing (or equivalent).
Ship-fit platform items used for Weapons and External Communications are NOT covered by this NES.
