SD45 DELTA-L DATA MANAGEMENT PLAN BASELINE
|Publication Date:||1 March 2001|
This plan describes the philosophy, system characteristics, and procedures for implementing the Data Management (DM) function in the DELTA-L Project. As used in this plan, the definition of data is any and all information required to substantiate the management and technical performance, cost performance, and schedule performance of all the DELTA-L project elements required to deliver science hardware and software and support equipment/spares to the end of the project life cycle. DELTA-L data can be in the form of documents or other media and as such, is an integral part of all technical and administrative functions essential to the successful accomplishment of DELTA-L Project objectives. Through the use of DM, the DELTA-L Project Team will ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance of all data. The discipline of DM also includes the storage, retrieval, tracking, distribution, and administration of data, and is administered through the use of policies, procedures, specifications, and standards. DELTA-L DM functions are as follows:
• Coordinate definition of data requirements and analysis
• Maintenance of data requirements
• Coordinate change control of data requirements
• Data controls and transmittals
• Data schedules and reports
• Data storage and retrieval
• Develop catalog library and tracking database
This DMP defines the policies, procedures, specifications, and standards that govern the processes to be used by the DELTA-L Organization Data Manager (ODM), project elements, and Center organizational elements in the implementation of the data management system. This DELTA-L Data Management Plan (DMP) defines the required processes required for the DELTA-L data management system that will be used as tracking and statusing controls for the handling of in-house and contractor data. The detailed operations in this plan are in compliance with Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) procedures and processes.
The DELTA-L project is managed by the MSFC Microgravity Biotechnology Program Office (MBPO). The abbreviated Organization Chart depicted in Figure 1 illustrates the DELTA-L organization's relationship to data management.
