Material Description. This specification covers the requirements for a sprayable or wipe-on body shop highlighting material that is used to reveal surface defects in the sheet metal. These defects will be repaired/refinished prior to exiting the body shop.

Since the condition of the metal surface is critical to obtain the required paint performance in the end product, the materials used under this specification must not adversely affect the formation of the proper phosphate or thin film pretreatment coatings. Therefore, these materials are considered part of the process and shall be supplied by the paint pretreatment supplier in each assembly plant. Any exceptions to this rule must first be approved by the Manufacturing Engineering Tribology Engineer.
