Characteristic noise emission values of technical sound sources - Transformers

active, Most Current
Organization: VDI
Publication Date: 1 February 1999
Status: active
Page Count: 8
ICS Code (Transformers. Reactors): 29.180
ICS Code (Noise emitted by machines and equipment): 17.140.20
scope:

This guideline is valid for transformers with a rated frequency of 50 Hz.

The guideline Covers

- Transformer group 1; public distribution transformers with rated powers from 50 kVA to 2 500 kVA;

- Transformer group 2: medium voltage, industrial and auxiliary transformers with rated powers greater than 1 MVA;

- Transformer group 3; mains and generator transformers with rated powers greater than 10 MVA.

The noise emission of abovementioned transformers, which has been determined using standardized measuring methods (see clause 2), is described in this Guide¬ line by means of the characteristic emission values defined in clause 3 and presented in clause 4. Furthermore, this Guideline includes notes concerning noise declaration and noise reduction measures (Annex A). This Guideline enables its users, such as manufacturers and users of transformers, planners of transformer stations and power plants, as well as institutions in Charge of assessing, testing and monitoring noise emission, to assess transformers from the acoustical point of view.
