Scope of application
Guideline VDI 4406 applies to FAA used in automatic conveyor systems as seals for the openings in fire-resistant elements such as walls and ceilings (see MBO § 17).
Openings with CSS according to this guideline are not suitable for personnel traffic.
If, in exceptional cases, passages for personnel traffic are to be closed off with CSS, the accident prevention measures (VBG 1.0 ff.), e.g. securing of closing edges and avoidance of danger due to crushing, shall be observed.
This guideline does not apply to CS in which the material is moved manually (e.g. on internal passageways or manual pass-throughs).
