Delimitation
The guideline defines a so-called "active message function". This is a communication mechanism describing a new possibility of generating and communicating system data which does not interfere with existing automation concepts. The communication channel described allows entities inside and outside the system to carry out a diagnosis of devices in a system without affecting the sequences defined by the relevant automation technique (hereinafter also called real-time operation). Nonetheless, it is possible for the automation concept to integrate the function described.
Objective
Drives as components of automation-technical
The guideline also covers constellations which are composed of drive units obtained from different manufacturers.
Use of XML
Section 1 to Section 4 of this guideline deal with the diagnostics of drives. Section 5 to Section 7 describe how the diagnostic contents are implemented on the basis of XML which describes mechanisms for providing data. The schemes given are, however, also suitable for configuration purposes.
