The basis of battery controlling is the battery controller, a small electrical device on the battery. It stores characteristic data as well as data on the operation and status of the battery.

The guideline is not limited to the state of the art in battery controlling but also acts as a guide for future advances in fleet management systems.

The guideline deals with three subject areas starting with the following basic questions:

  • What statements are to be derived from the data of the battery controller?
  • Which data should the battery controller register?
  • To whom and how should the data be transmitted?
