The standard VDI/VDE 2617 Part 8 describes a procedure for determining the task-specific uncertainty of measurement. However, the specifics of coordinate measuring machines with CT sensors are not addressed. Therefore, this standard has been drafted. It applies to coordinate measuring machines with CT sensors.
On the basis of the determined uncertainty of measurement and knowing the tolerance to be fulfilled, it is possible to assess a test process using coordinate measuring machines with CT sensors in terms of the derived characteristic "test process suitability". The characteristic "test process suitability" is used to evaluate the measurement and production process. It does not serve as a basis for rules regarding product acceptance and rejection decisions. The acceptance and reverification tests for CMMs with CT sensors are described in VDI/VDE 2630 Part 1.3. Decision rules for acceptance testing are provided, e.g., in DIN EN ISO 14253-1.
