Material Description. This specification details the requirements of a methylene chloride-free, polyurethane based, solvent release type primer. It is intended to promote adhesion of urethane adhesive sealing compounds to automotive topcoats and various substrates.
Symbols. ADH.
Applicability. These primers are capable of being applied by brush, felt or spray, manually or with automation, and provide good wettability to the application substrates. These also are friendlier to handheld bottles with felt tip applicators due to lower viscosity properties. Although not restricted to, these primers are typically used for bonding fixed automotive glass to vehicle openings, e.g., windshields, rear windows and quarter glass.
Remarks. Users of these materials should become more familiar with the approved primer by reviewing the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), process standards and MSDS documents.
